Plant of the Month: Star Cactus (Haworthia Retusa)

Even though the Star Cactus only grows up to four inches tall, with its translucent leaves and potential white flowers, it is a beautiful and easy to take care of succulent.

The Star Cactus’ official name is Haworthia Retusa and the plant natively comes from South Africa.

Star Cacti are mainly indoor plants, but if you live in a warmer climate or it’s summer, you can leave it outside. Star Cacti grow best in temperatures between 70°F and 90°F. For its pot, make sure to have a shallow pot that drains well and put it in either cactus soil or a half and half combination of regular potting soil and sand.

For watering in the summer, water it weekly or when you feel that the top of the soil is dry. In the winter, water only once a month.
